indispettire

to irritate

verb een-dee-spet-TEE-reh Rare

Also means

to annoy

Usage Note

Indispettire means to rouse someone's pique or irritation — stronger than scocciare (to bother) but milder than far arrabbiare (to enrage). It takes avere in active constructions and essere when used reflexively: si è indispettito ('he got annoyed').

Examples

"Il suo atteggiamento mi ha indispettito."

Natural Translation

His attitude irritated me.

Literal Translation

The his attitude to-me has irritated.
