Usage Note
Stregare means to cast a spell on someone and, figuratively, to captivate or charm: la sua voce mi ha stregato (her voice bewitched me). The related noun strega means witch. Note that the hard g is preserved before the -are ending (streg-), as in all -gare verbs. A stregone is a wizard or sorcerer (masculine counterpart of strega).
