Usage Note

Invidiare uses the auxiliary avereho invidiato il suo successo (I envied his success). The construction is invidiare qualcosa a qualcuno (to envy someone something) — ti invidio la pazienza (I envy you your patience). The related noun is invidia (f) — envy, and the adjective invidioso — envious.
