Usage Note
Calmare takes avere as auxiliary. The reflexive calmarsi means to calm down oneself: calmati! (calm down!). It is used for soothing people, pain, or situations. Do not confuse with quietare (more literary) or sedare (to sedate/suppress — stronger connotation).
