Usage Note
Vena refers to a blood vein in anatomy, but also to a vein of ore or marble, and to a figurative streak of talent or inspiration — ha una vena artistica (she has an artistic streak). The plural vene is regular. Note that a 'vein' in the sense of 'in a cheerful vein' translates as in vena di buonumore, meaning 'in the mood for good humor'.
