appendice

appendix

noun ahp-PEN-dee-cheh Rare

Origin: From Latin appendix, 'something attached'.

Also means

appendage

Usage Note

Appendice covers both the anatomical organ and the supplementary section at the end of a book. Unlike English, which has 'appendix' for both, Italian also uses appendice for a serial fiction installment (romanzo d'appendice = feuilleton). The plural is regular: appendici.

Examples

"Il libro ha un'appendice con le note storiche."

Natural Translation

The book has an appendix with historical notes.
