Usage Note
Risentimento denotes a lingering bitterness over a perceived wrong — closer to 'grudge' than to momentary anger. The verb is risentirsi (to feel resentful, to take offence): mi sono risentito per quella battuta (I took offence at that remark). Unlike rancore (which is deeper and more enduring), risentimento can fade more easily.
