quale

which

determiner pronoun KWAH-leh Common

Origin: from Latin qualis

Also means

what

Usage Note

Quale asks 'which one' and has just two forms, singular quale and plural quali, since it does not mark gender. As an interrogative it often drops its final vowel before è (qual è?, never with an apostrophe). It also serves as a relative pronoun in il quale, la quale.
