Usage Note
Assegnato is the past participle of assegnare used as an adjective, agreeing in gender/number: il compito assegnato (m sg), le risorse assegnate (f pl). In formal contexts it often appears in passive constructions: il premio è stato assegnato a ('the prize has been awarded to'). Not to be confused with assennato ('sensible, prudent'), which differs by one letter.
