Usage Note

Alcun is the apocopated (shortened) masculine singular of alcuno, used before a noun, as in senza alcun dubbio ('without any doubt'). In negative sentences it means 'any' at all; in the plural alcuni/alcune it means 'some, a few'. The full alcuno survives before s+consonant or z.
