pentire
to repent
verb pen-TEE-reh Rare
Origin: From Latin paenitēre (to cause regret).

The bare non-reflexive form is rare. Common in religious contexts (pentirsi dei peccati) and everyday speech (mi sono pentito di quella scelta = I regretted that choice).
