innervosire

to irritate, to make nervous

verb een-ner-voh-ZEE-reh Rare

Usage Note

Innervosire is a regular -ire verb (isc-type: innervosisco) and takes avere in the transitive. The reflexive innervosirsi ('to get nervous/irritated') is at least as common as the transitive use. It implies an emotional irritability rather than physical agitation — closer to 'to get on someone's nerves' than 'to terrify'.

Examples

"Il rumore continuo mi innervosisce molto."

Natural Translation

The constant noise really irritates me.

Literal Translation

The-noise continuous to-me irritates much.
