divertimento
fun
noun dee-ver-tee-MEN-toh Rare
Origin: From divertire (to amuse), from Latin divertere (to turn aside, to divert).
Also means
entertainment
Usage Note
Divertimento is masculine and refers to the enjoyment or amusement itself, not the thing that causes it (il divertimento era assicurato — the fun was guaranteed). To express that someone is having fun, Italians use divertirsi: Mi sono divertito moltissimo (I had so much fun). The word also exists in music as a term for a light instrumental composition.
Examples
"La serata è stata piena di divertimento."
Natural Translation
The evening was full of fun.
