commuovere
to move emotionally
verb kom-MWOH-veh-reh Rare
Origin: Latin commovere, from com- + movere (to move)
Also means
to touch deeply
Usage Note
Commuovere is used when something stirs deep emotion — mi ha commosso (it moved me to tears). It takes avere as auxiliary; the reflexive commuoversi means 'to be moved / to get tearful'. The past participle is commosso. A false friend: it does NOT mean 'to communicate'.
Examples
"Il suo discorso ha commosso tutti."
Natural Translation
Her speech moved everyone.
