umorismo
humour; wit
noun oo-moh-REEZ-moh Rare
Origin: From Latin humor (fluid, mood) via the four humours theory.
Usage Note
Umorismo means the quality of being funny or the art of comedy, not a mood (which is umore). Avere il senso dell'umorismo (to have a sense of humour) is the standard phrase. Do not confuse umorismo (humour as a quality) with umore (mood — essere di buon/cattivo umore). The two words are related but not interchangeable.
Examples
"Il suo umorismo mette tutti a proprio agio."
Natural Translation
His humour puts everyone at ease.
