Usage Note

Scovare originally meant to drive game from its hiding place (covo) during a hunt. It now commonly means to unearth or find something hidden: scovare un errore (to root out an error), scovare un ristorante (to discover a hidden-gem restaurant). It takes avere as its auxiliary. The root covo (den, lair) is visible inside the verb.
