Usage Note

Scongiurare has two related senses: to avert a danger (scongiurare una crisi = to avert a crisis) and to implore someone urgently (ti scongiuro = I beg you). The superstitious gesture of touching iron (toccare ferro) is itself called fare gli scongiuri. Uses avere as auxiliary.
