Usage Note
Muro refers to a freestanding or exterior wall, especially a thick or solid one (il muro di Berlino). For the inner wall of a room, Italians more often use parete (f). The plural is muri (walls of a building) or mura (f, invariable) for city walls or fortifications as a collective noun.
