Usage Note

Armatura has two main senses: historical body armour (l'armatura di un cavaliere) and a structural framework or reinforcement (e.g. armatura in ferro — the steel rebar inside reinforced concrete). The plural is regular: le armature. In the construction sense it overlaps with carpenteria but refers specifically to the metal skeleton.
