Usage Note

Lizza is almost exclusively used in the fixed phrase in lizza (in the running, in contention), as in i candidati in lizza (the candidates in contention). Outside this idiom it is archaic, referring to the fenced arena of a medieval joust. Learners only need to know in lizza.
