Usage Note
Insaputa only appears in the fixed phrase all'insaputa di ('without the knowledge of'): l'ha fatto all'insaputa mia ('he did it without my knowledge'). It is never used as a standalone noun outside this construction. Learners should treat it as a frozen idiom rather than a free-standing word.
Examples
"Lo ha fatto all'insaputa dei genitori."
Natural Translation
He did it without his parents' knowledge.
Literal Translation
He it did at-the-unaware of-the parents.
