Insanguinato is the past participle of insanguinare (to drench in blood), used as an adjective. It agrees in gender and number: la mano insanguinata (the bloodied hand), i vestiti insanguinati (the bloodied clothes). It is stronger and more vivid than macchiato di sangue (stained with blood).
