Immigrazione denotes the movement of people into a country, whereas emigrazione is movement out. Both are feminine -zione nouns. The related nouns are immigrato/a (immigrant) and immigrante (migrant). Note the double -mm-: Italian doubles consonants when the prefix ends and the root begins with the same consonant.
