Usage Note

Gravidanza is the standard medical and everyday term for pregnancy. The adjective gravida (pregnant, formal/medical) comes from the same root. Informally Italians say essere incinta or restare incinta (to get pregnant); the adjective incinta inflects for number (una donna incintadue donne incinte). Do not use gravidanza as an adjective.
