Origin: Named after the English chemist John Dalton, who described colour blindness in 1798.
Usage Note
Daltonico describes a person affected by daltonismo (colour blindness). The feminine is daltonica; plurals daltonici / daltoniche (note the -ch- spelling to preserve the hard 'k' sound before -e). The condition is much more common in males: roughly 8% of men vs 0.5% of women are affected.
