Usage Note
Culto covers religious worship in general (libertà di culto — freedom of worship) as well as a specific cult or sect. It also extends to intense admiration: un culto della personalità (a personality cult), or informally un film di culto (a cult film). It is always masculine. The related verb is coltivare only in the agricultural sense; adorare/venerare are used for the worship sense.
