Cascare is a colloquial synonym of cadere (to fall), often preferred in informal speech. It also means 'to fall for' a trick or joke: non ci casco ('I'm not falling for it'). It takes essere as its auxiliary in compound tenses: sono cascato/a. The expression cascarci (with a clitic) is very idiomatic.
