Usage Note
Bubbonico appears almost exclusively in the fixed phrase peste bubbonica (bubonic plague). Outside that medical-historical context it is virtually unused. Note the doubled 'b' in Italian (bubbonico), reflecting the doubled consonant in the root bubbone (bubo/swollen lymph node).
