Apparecchio is the standard formal word for an electrical appliance or device (apparecchio acustico = hearing aid, apparecchio dentale = dental brace). In aviation, l'apparecchio means an aircraft. It should not be confused with apparecchiare, the verb meaning 'to set the table'. Plural: gli apparecchi.
