Utile functions as both a noun and an adjective. As a noun it is masculine and means 'profit' or 'net gain' (utile netto — net profit), common in accounting. As an adjective it means 'useful' or 'helpful' and is invariable for gender: uno strumento utile / una cosa utile. The adverb form is utilmente. The plural noun is utili.
