Usage Note
Susseguire is almost always used reflexively as susseguirsi — 'to follow one another in rapid succession': gli eventi si sono susseguiti (the events followed one after another). In compound tenses the reflexive form takes essere. It is a formal, literary verb; in everyday speech succedersi or seguirsi are more common.
