Also means
overcome
Usage Note
Superato is the past participle of superare used as an adjective. In everyday speech it means 'outdated, obsolete, no longer relevant': un'idea superata (an outdated idea). It can also mean 'overcome' in the sense of a difficulty that has been got past: l'ostacolo è superato (the obstacle has been overcome). Context distinguishes the two readings.
