Usage Note
Spot is an invariable English loanword (lo spot, gli spot) used specifically in Italian for a short TV or radio commercial — equivalent to a 'TV ad.' The more formal term is pubblicità or annuncio pubblicitario, but spot is extremely common in everyday and professional usage. Note the use of lo (not il) before it, as with most foreign words beginning with 's+consonant'.
Examples
"Ho visto uno spot divertente in televisione."
Natural Translation
I saw a funny commercial on television.
