speso

spent

adjective SPEH-zoh Rare

Also means

used up

Usage Note

Speso is the past participle of spendere (to spend) used as an adjective. Soldi spesi bene means 'money well spent'. It can also describe time spent: tempo speso. Note that spesa (feminine of the same root) is a common independent noun meaning 'shopping' or 'expense' — fare la spesa means 'to go grocery shopping', a phrase every learner needs.

Examples

"È un soldo speso bene."

Natural Translation

It's money well spent.
