Usage Note

Soglia is the physical doorstep and, figuratively, any limit or threshold, as in soglia di povertà ('poverty line') or soglia del dolore ('pain threshold'). The 'gli' is the soft palatal sound, like the 'lli' in 'million'. The plural is soglie.
