Usage Note
Smaltato is the past participle of smaltare (to enamel, to glaze) used as an adjective. It describes surfaces coated with enamel: ghisa smaltata (enamelled cast iron), vasca smaltata (enamelled bathtub), piastrelle smaltate (glazed tiles). The feminine is smaltata. Do not confuse with verniciato (painted/varnished) — smaltato implies a hard, glass-like coating.
Examples
"La vasca da bagno smaltata era ancora in ottime condizioni."
Natural Translation
The enamelled bathtub was still in excellent condition.
