Usage Note

Signora is the standard polite form of address for a woman, equivalent to 'Mrs' or 'Ms' (Buongiorno, signora Rossi). When used without a surname it functions as a respectful 'ma'am' or 'madam'. The masculine is signore (which drops the final -e before a surname: signor Bianchi). The plural is signore (f) and signori (m or mixed group).
