Seggio primarily denotes a parliamentary or electoral seat (seggio parlamentare) and also the physical seggio elettorale (polling station/booth). It is unrelated to sedia (chair) in modern usage. The plural is regular: i seggi. In historical contexts it referred to noble assemblies in southern Italian kingdoms.
