Ritrovato as a noun (from the past participle of ritrovare = 'to find again') most often means a new discovery or device, especially in advertising and tech: l'ultimo ritrovato della tecnologia = 'the latest in technology'. It is not the same as trovata (a clever idea or gimmick). Its use in everyday speech is relatively formal.
