Usage Note
Anestesista is an epicene noun — both male and female practitioners use the same form; gender is shown by the article: l'anestesista (m or f), gli anestesisti (m pl), le anestesiste (f pl). It should not be confused with anestesia (anesthesia) itself or anestesiologo, a slightly more formal synonym.
