Usage Note
Rimasto is the past participle of rimanere ('to remain / stay'), used adjectivally. Note that rimanere takes essere as its auxiliary, so compound tenses agree in gender and number: è rimasta (f. sg.), sono rimasti (m. pl.). Do not confuse with rimesso (participle of rimettere).
Examples
"I fondi rimasti saranno ridistribuiti."
Natural Translation
The remaining funds will be redistributed.
Literal Translation
The funds remaining will-be redistributed.
