riflettere

reflect

verb ree-FLEHT-teh-reh Less Common

Origin: from Latin 'reflectere' (to bend back)

Usage Note

Riflettere carries both senses of English 'reflect': a mirror reflecting light, and a person pondering. For thinking it takes su, as in riflettere su un problema ('to reflect on a problem'); it has two past participles, riflettuto (thought) and riflesso (mirrored).

I-must reflect on-the decision.
