Razza is a feminine noun (la razza, plural le razze). It covers the sense of animal breed (una razza di cane — a dog breed) as well as the contested human sense of race (razza umana). In exclamations, razza! or che razza di…! functions as an intensifier ('what a … !'). The double -zz- is pronounced 'ts': RAHT-tsah.
