rammentare

to remind

verb rahm-men-TAH-reh Rare

Origin: From 're-' + 'mente' (mind) — to bring back to mind.

Also means

to recall

Usage Note

Rammentare uses the auxiliary avere and is slightly more formal or literary than ricordare. In reflexive form, rammentarsi di means 'to remember' (non mi rammento del suo nome — I don't remember his name). Both rammentare and ricordare can mean 'to remind someone of something' (ti rammento che... — let me remind you that...).

Examples

"Ti rammento che la riunione inizia alle nove."

Natural Translation

I remind you that the meeting starts at nine.
