Quarantennale functions as both adjective (un piano quarantennale — 'a forty-year plan') and noun (il quarantennale della fondazione — 'the fortieth anniversary of the foundation'). Like all adjectives ending in -e, it has the same form for masculine and feminine singular, with plural quarantennali. The seed POS is noun but it can also be adjective.
