Usage Note

Pulpito is the raised platform in a church from which a priest or preacher delivers a sermon. The idiom da che pulpito viene la predica ('look at the pulpit the sermon comes from') is used when someone is criticized by a person equally at fault — equivalent to 'look who's talking' or 'the pot calling the kettle black' in English.

Examples

"Il parroco salì sul pulpito e cominciò a parlare."

Natural Translation

The parish priest climbed the pulpit and began to speak.
