Usage Note
Pasto means a meal as an occasion or event (il pasto principale, the main meal), distinct from cibo (food in general). Saltare un pasto is 'to skip a meal.' In medical or label contexts, a stomaco pieno/a digiuno (with food/on an empty stomach) often replaces dopo/prima del pasto.
