Also means
to spend (time)
Usage Note
Passare takes essere when used intransitively for movement ('il treno è passato,' the train went past) and avere when transitive ('ho passato un'ora,' I spent an hour). The phrase passare del tempo (to spend time) is extremely common, and passare a trovare means 'to drop by and visit.'
