Usage Note
Accelerare can be intransitive (la macchina ha accelerato = the car sped up) or transitive (accelerare i tempi = to speed up the schedule). Auxiliary is avere in both uses. Do not confuse with affrettarsi (to hurry, of a person). The noun form is l'accelerazione (f).
