Usage Note
Ormai expresses that something has already reached a state or is inevitable by now: ormai è tardi (it's already too late), ormai lo sanno tutti (by now everyone knows). It differs from già (already) in implying that a threshold has been definitively crossed, often with a nuance of resignation.
